 CHILDREN'S CLASSES
AGES 2-3 Girotondo Rosso AGES 3-4 Girotondo Blu AGES 4-5 This year-round kids' program offers comprehensive language learning and hands-on instruction in the arts to children from ages 2-5. In Girontondo ("Circle") an experienced instructor provides opportunities for kids to learn Italian through play and activities: games, songs, dances, story telling, and film (Disney movies in Italian). Participation in multiple arts and crafts projects also reinforces the children's Italian language skills. Lastly, La Merenda (snack time) allows children the opportunity to converse on food routines in Italiano. Children are placed in groups (max. 7 children) according to age. Girotondo classes require the presence of a parent or caregiver. GIARDINO DEI BAMBINI AGES 2-5 Giardino dei Bambini is a morning drop-off playgroup at CI for kids ages 2-5. Children may join in on the fun every Tuesday and Thursday from 9-12 on an as needed basis. Experienced instructors provide multiple opportunities for kids to learn Italian through play, while learning important socialization skills. The program offers language learning through games, activities, songs, dance, theater, and hands-on creativity (art projects and cooking). Note: Space is limited. 24-hour advance reservation is required. PICCOLI CUOCHI AGES 6-10 Using kid-friendly recipes, children (alone and in groups) prepare simple Italian dishes while learning about healthy nutrition and the benefits of the food pyramid. Seasonal fresh organic ingredients are used whenever available. Recipes include Italian specialties such as pizza, focaccia, pasta, sauces (pomodoro classico, pesto, paglia e fieno), insalata di riso (rice salad), verdure ripiene (cold and warm), frittate, torte di verdure (vegetable pie), frollini al burro a stampo, and desserts (crostata di frutta, torta di ricotta, tirami su`, gelato and sorbetto, spuntini dolci e salati). A final class project may include combining the children's illustrations of food and ingredients with their in-class texts (measurements and recipes) to create the pen-ultimate group project... a cookbook for and by kids! HOMEWORK HELP in Italiano Tutoring / Group and Private Classes ALL AGES Collina Italiana is continuing its work with American children and teens, enrolled at Italian school or in Italian programs, who desire homework help in Italiano in all subjects. CI addresses the needs of many Italian students in New York who seek reading, grammar, writing, and pronunciation support in English. CI's goal is to successfully reinforce a student's bi-lingual education. Private and semi-private tutoring and small groups (maximum 4-6 children) in both Italian and English are forming. Please inquire. TEATRO ITALIANO: MAKE AN ITALIAN SHOW! AGES 5-7 How many stories have you recounted to your children? How many times have you seen your young child enthralled by a story and even perform in their rooms? TEATRO ITALIANO for children transforms those stories by bringing them to the stage for a real audience. The students, with teacher guidance, create a play, including the costumes and songs. Children also learn pronunciation and Italian vocabulary, idioms, and grammar through performing. At the end of the workshop, the class stages a play entirely in Italiano! TEATRO ITALIANO: GO ON STAGE...IN ITALIAN! AGES 8-12 How many stories have your teens told you? How many times have you seen your kids improvise stories? TEATRO ITALIANO for teens gives your kids a platform to perform their favorite stories for an audience. The students, with teacher guidance, create a play, including the costumes and songs. Participants also master pronunciation and learn new Italian vocabulary, idioms, and grammar through performing. At the end of the workshop, the class stages a play entirely in Italiano! |
